Shopify Upsell App Pricing: How to Compare the Actual Bill
The entry price of an upsell app is only one part of the bill. A merchant also needs to know what the app counts, which limits apply, what happens at the boundary and whether a quiet period still has a minimum. A free label can describe a development-store allowance, a revenue threshold or a feature-limited plan. Those are different offers.

This comparison uses official Shopify App Store listings checked on 15 October 2026 and FairRev's current implementation. It does not rank apps as best or cheapest, assume identical functionality or equate one vendor's attributed revenue with another's. Hypothetical calculations explain arithmetic under stated assumptions; they are not forecasts of merchant results.
Identify the billing basis and included features
Begin by writing down the unit that determines the fee. It may be total store orders, app-attributed revenue, a flat subscription or another measure. Then ask for the rule behind the unit. A revenue-based plan is not fully explained by saying the app generated that revenue.
Identify the subscription period and currency. A 30-day app period is not automatically the same as a calendar month in a sales report. Separate recurring charges, usage, one-time charges and any taxes. Compare a complete ordinary period as well as the introductory one.
List the workflow requirements beside the price: placements, product types, variant choices, inventory behavior, shopper controls, compatibility and support. A cheaper plan is not useful if the required journey is absent. Equally, paying for a broad suite is unnecessary when a free native feature meets the store's needs.
Ask what happens when a limit is reached. Does the app stop offers, restrict configuration, request approval, change the plan or simply stop charging usage? Do not infer the answer from a plan's revenue threshold. The threshold and the enforcement policy are separate facts that need verification.
Finally, distinguish attributed sales from profit and incremental lift. A revenue number does not subtract product or fulfillment costs, and a deterministic match does not establish the counterfactual of what the shopper would have purchased. These distinctions matter when a percentage fee looks small but the promotion's own cost is large.
Understand free plans and conditional allowances
When evaluating a free Shopify upsell app, identify who can use the free plan and what causes its limits. A development store is different from an ordinary merchant store. A trial ends by time; an allowance ends at a measured threshold; a permanent free tier can restrict functionality instead. The same free label can conceal very different decisions.
For a free Shopify bundle app, begin with the actual bundle requirement. Fixed bundles, multipacks, grouped offers and quantity discounts do not necessarily share inventory or variant behavior. If a free product supports the exact requirement adequately, that is a legitimate reason to choose it over FairRev.
FairRev's free plan covers up to 200 USD of attributed revenue in each 30-day period. It is not a one-time 200 USD pot and is not deducted from the paid formula. Limits can restrict creating and editing offers while already-published offers continue. Paid approval is separate; the threshold does not silently create a paid subscription.
Check whether an introductory discount applies to the whole bill or one portion. A discount on recurring charges may leave usage unchanged. Also record how many cycles it covers and what the ordinary renewal terms are. Do not compare a rival's ordinary price with FairRev's most favorable unverified campaign as if both were the enduring cost.
The right free option depends on the workflow and limits, not the absence of a price in a search snippet. Read the current official listing and the approval terms before making a decision.
Compare FairRev’s documented plans and ceiling
FairRev pricing is the canonical source for the current version 3 plan and its examples. Outside an eligible introductory discount, the paid charge is the higher of 9.99 USD and 0.5 percent of billable attributed revenue, capped at 19 USD per 30-day period before applicable taxes. A period with no attributed revenue still owes 9.99 USD on paid.
The recurring minimum is charged at the start of the cycle. Usage applies above 1,998 USD, where 0.5 percent overtakes that minimum. The 19 USD maximum is fixed in the current plan and disclosed for approval. It is not an extra merchant-editable FairRev setting. Every available feature is included on each plan.
Older Starter, Growth and Scale tiers and the version 2 share limit are historical subscription terms. They should not be combined with version 3 to invent a hybrid calculation. Existing subscriptions retain their recorded version until a merchant approves a change, so a real bill must be checked against its own plan.
An eligible launch campaign can discount the recurring portion for six cycles. The current calculation does not halve all usage or reduce the total maximum to 9.50 USD. Active campaign availability has not been verified. Automatic recovery of already-reported version 3 usage after a later refund is also unresolved; the verified older usage-only credit path must not be advertised as universal.
Public App Store installation for FairRev has not been verified. A pricing explanation is therefore evaluation material, not a claim that any reader can complete installation today.
Check Essential Upsell & Cross Sell’s revenue limits
The official Essential Upsell & Cross Sell listing, checked 15 October 2026, states a free tier for “Up to $100 additional revenue generated” and a 9.99 USD monthly Starter tier for “Up to $500 additional revenue generated”. Product-page offers are included in the listing's scope. The figures describe the listing on the stated check date.
Those limits establish that revenue-linked pricing is not unique to FairRev. They do not establish that Essential uses the same matching, exclusions, settlement or refund rule. Avoid assigning one shared dashboard revenue number to both vendors and treating it as an observed equivalent bill.
When evaluating the plan, inspect the features and placements needed for the store. The listing includes other surfaces beyond the product-page overlap, so this is not a claim that the apps offer identical functionality. A merchant can rationally choose Essential for a required workflow even when a different app has a lower maximum in another scenario.
Check the current behavior at a plan boundary and the ordinary renewal terms in the vendor's documentation or approval flow. The threshold alone does not prove an automatic upgrade or a specific treatment after it is exceeded. This comparison withholds that inference rather than inventing a policy.
For an actual decision, record the dated listing, selected tier, required features and unanswered questions. A later price change should prompt a new check instead of silently carrying this date forward as if the page had been reverified.
Check Kaching Bundles App & Upsells pricing
The official Kaching Bundles App & Upsells listing, checked 15 October 2026, lists Starter at 14.99 USD per month for up to 1,000 USD of additional revenue. Its free-to-install wording is associated with development stores. The listing also presents annual pricing, so distinguish monthly billing from an annual commitment when comparing entry figures.
The same listing documents bundle and quantity-break capabilities and A/B testing. These are material product differences. FairRev should not claim superior testing or analytics without evidence, and this comparison does not make that claim. The Starter figure above is its ordinary monthly list price on the check date.
For a merchant investigating Kaching bundles pricing, the next questions are the applicable revenue definition, required layout and feature behavior, threshold enforcement and the complete renewal cost. A displayed monthly equivalent on an annual option is not the same commitment as paying monthly. Read the current selected option before approval.
Do not treat the additional-revenue allowance as a directly comparable measurement with FairRev's billable attribution. The two apps can assign different items or timing to revenue. A hypothetical table can hold inputs constant to explain arithmetic, but it cannot prove the same merchant would generate the same billing input in both tools.
Kaching may be a better fit when its verified offer presentation or testing tools meet a requirement FairRev has not demonstrated. Price should be assessed after that functional decision, not used to conceal the missing evidence.
Check Bundler Product Bundles and Shopify Bundles
The official Bundler Product Bundles listing, checked 15 October 2026, describes its free plan with “Unlimited revenue & orders” and includes quantity-discount and product-page upsell capabilities. Paid capabilities also exist. These terms are one reason to compare the complete required workflow before assuming that a revenue-linked paid plan is cheaper.
Read which capabilities are available in the tier that supports your exact offer. Unlimited revenue does not automatically mean every feature is included, and a paid feature may matter more than the free headline. Conversely, if the free tier adequately solves the merchant's problem, there is no obligation to choose a paid alternative.
The official Shopify Bundles listing, checked on the same date, lists the app as free and describes fixed bundles and multipacks, component variant selection and real-time inventory updates. If that scope satisfies the requirement, start with Shopify Bundles. FairRev's grouped offer code is not evidence that it duplicates the native inventory model.
For broader offer workflows, compare the specific journeys rather than using a generic bundle label. A Shopify product bundle app should show real components, setup, shopper behavior and limitations. FairRev's bundle guide describes the current configuration and limits; a complete grouped shopper-to-checkout demonstration still needs to be requested before selecting that workflow.
No free plan in this comparison is automatically the right choice for every store. The practical decision is whether its documented and tested behavior meets the requirement at an acceptable ongoing cost.
Compare clearly labeled hypothetical bills
Use hypothetical inputs only to understand the published formula. The following FairRev examples assume version 3 paid was approved, no campaign, no applicable tax or carried credit, and the stated billable revenue in one full period. They are not measured merchant bills.
| Hypothetical FairRev billable revenue | Paid-plan charge |
|---|---|
| 0 USD | 9.99 USD |
| 500 USD | 9.99 USD |
| 2,500 USD | 12.50 USD |
| 3,800 USD | 19.00 USD |
| 50,000 USD | 19.00 USD |
Remaining on FairRev Free is a separate plan decision with a 200 USD allowance and configuration limits; this table does not describe an automatic upgrade. A hypothetical eligible introductory cycle can reduce the recurring estimate but does not halve all usage or the fixed maximum.
For competitor arithmetic, keep the scenario within a verified tier. Under the listings checked, an Essential Starter scenario within its stated 500 USD additional-revenue band has a 9.99 USD monthly list fee; a Kaching Starter scenario within its 1,000 USD band has a 14.99 USD monthly list fee. Those are different vendor-defined inputs, not evidence that a shared real basket produces the same attributed amount. Native Shopify Bundles has a zero app price for its documented scope.
Add promotion costs and operational requirements separately. A lower fee can coexist with a more expensive discount or unsuitable workflow. Never extrapolate a tier beyond its documented band to produce a favorable comparison.
Choose the app that fits your requirements
Make a short decision record: required workflow, supported placement, variant and inventory needs, actual test result, ordinary fee, free-plan conditions, renewal terms and unresolved limitations. Choose a product that meets the requirement rather than one with the most attractive isolated number.
Read FairRev attribution if order-level reconciliation is part of the decision. Use revenue verification to separate the rule used for billing from evidence of incremental lift. A precise assigned-revenue total is not proof that an offer created every dollar.
Prefer the free native option when its fixed bundles are sufficient. Consider Bundler, Essential or Kaching when their documented and tested capabilities fit better. Consider FairRev only with its current availability limits and the evidence for the intended offer. No superiority claim is needed to explain a useful merchant choice.
Recheck the official sources before approving a subscription or republishing a comparison after a material change. The check date identifies the evidence used here; it is not a guarantee that pricing, features or access will remain unchanged.
